Who it’s for: Ages 6–10
Pre-Swim Club is the bridge between swim lessons and the Karishim Swim Team as a supportive introduction to the basics of competitive swimming without the competition. The program focuses on building proper technique across all four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle, as well as fundamentals like circle swimming, using a pace clock, and understanding team etiquette.
Like Karishim, Pre-Swim Club is skill-based rather than age-based. To participate, swimmers must be able to complete a 50-yard (down and back) lap of both freestyle and backstroke. From there, the program adapts to each swimmer’s pace. When a swimmer shows readiness for the full team, they’ll be the first to know.
Pre-Swim Club is coached by Lauren Gale, Head Coach of the Karishim Swim Club, so swimmers are already building a relationship with the team they’re working toward.

Who it’s for: All Ages and Abilities
Every swimmer deserves the chance to be in the water. Our Adaptive Swim program offers personalized, one-on-one instruction for swimmers of all ages and abilities using the Swim Angelfish® methodology and Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy techniques. We start with a comprehensive intake process to understand each swimmer’s individual needs, behaviors, and goals, and build customized lesson plans from there. Families, caregivers, and support professionals are actively involved throughout.
Our facility is fully equipped to support swimmers of all abilities, including a hydraulic lift for pool entry and exit, private changing rooms, and sound-dampening panels around the indoor pool to reduce noise for swimmers with sensory sensitivities.
We also offer a free Sensory Swim Hour every Saturday, which is a dedicated, low-sensory pool session for individuals with autism and other sensory needs, supported by the NLM Family Foundation in partnership with Autism Welcoming.
Who it’s for: Ages 3 Months & Up
Swimming is one of the most important skills a child can learn, and we make sure it’s fun from the very first lesson. Our children’s swim lesson program is built on the SwimRight® method, using a swim-float-swim technique as its foundation.
The focus is on water safety and building the muscle memory that helps swimmers instinctively react safely when they enter the water, not only for passing swim tests but genuinely knowing how to approach the water safely.
Classes are available as parent-tot lessons, small group lessons, and private lessons, with certified instructors who give each child personalized attention. We also offer perpetual sign-ups, so you can join whenever it works for your family and adjust days, times, or instructors as needed.
Who it’s for: Ages 6–18
Karishim is JCC Greater Boston’s year-round, USA Swimming-sanctioned competitive team for swimmers ages 6 to 18. Swim groups are led by USA-certified coaches in a low coach-to-swimmer ratio setting, giving each athlete individualized attention and personalized training. Swimmers participate in a wide range of local competitive meets each season, with groups ranging from beginners finding their footing all the way to national-level competitors.
With a supportive community of athletes and a safe, friendly environment, Karishim is a place where swimmers grow, build lasting friendships, and reach their full potential in the pool.
Head Coach Lauren Gale brings competitive swimming expertise and a background in nutrition and wellness to every practice.
