At JCC Greater Boston, we strive to accommodate each individual’s diverse needs so that every member and participant in our programs feels safe, comfortable and connected to our community. We aim to offer a wide range of programs focused on the inclusion of those with diverse needs.
The JCC underwent renovations in 2018 that updated our facility with accessibility features for all members. The Leventhal-Sidman JCC is proud to offer:
- Wheelchair-friendly changing rooms
- Elevators across campus
- A spacious cardio deck and weight room to allow for all members to move comfortably
- Pool chair lifts
- Chair lifts to and from the Fitness Center… and more!
Camp Grossman Special Needs Programming
Elissa Edwards (she/her) is the Coordinator of Inclusion and Support Services at JCC Greater Boston. Elissa has been a part of the JCC family since 2010 when she started as a swim instructor at Camp Grossman. Her motivation to be an advocate for people with disabilities derives directly from her work with campers in Camp Grossman’s Special Needs Program. She is currently the Co-Waterfront Director at Camp Grossman, and continues to work at Camp Grossman during the summers. Elissa was formerly a Special Education teacher in both Virginia and Massachusetts. Elissa also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from James Madison University. Elissa is excited to see people of all backgrounds and abilities access and enjoy all that JCC Greater Boston has to offer!
