Together we will explore music production through interactive sessions using GarageBand for ipad. Learn about samplers, sequences, virtual instruments, synthesizers, and drum machines. We will explore DAW, FX, loops, and Inter-App audio. Using a variety of different musical genres and lesson plans that are crafted to the abilities and experience level of our class, we will answer questions like: How do you make a good beat? and How do you arrange a beat into a full song?

In this interactive and socially relevant class, students will learn about different key activist movements of the last 100 years (a new movement each week!)

We will start by defining activism ourselves, and continue on with conversations about civil rights and racial equality, environmental activism and sustainability, feminism, the gay rights movement, animal welfare and more.

These are complicated topics and might be new for many of the students. The instructor, Ellie Cody, will be focusing on making sure lessons are approachable and geared toward the age group. Ellie is so optimistic and excited about the amazing things these students will go on to do in their lives, and is teaching this class because she believes that learning about history and what others have stood for can help us all to build a more beautiful and sustainable future together.

Focused Kids Martial Arts uses an internationally recognized life skill program to teach 12 basic life skills: focus, teamwork, control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, coordination, manners, respect, confidence and stranger.

The lesson for each skill incorporates drills, a one-minute chat about the skill where it is defined and explained, and fun virtual games.

Every child will receive a new badge at the end of 2 weeks. The badge is mailed home to be awarded when you feel your child has demonstrated the life skill. Belt stripes are earned by participating in class. Our teaching philosophy is to work from the positive.

The "Mother Tai Chi Form" from Wudang Mountain, this set is said to be the original form created by Tai Chi's famed creator, Taoist Master Zhang, Sanfeng. Beautiful and truly healing, it features 13 groups of movement that incorporate many of the major principle techniques in Tai Chi. The fluid movements of the Wudang 13 embody stillness in movement, integrate the mind and body, and elevate the spirit. Learn the first two sections of the form in this 4-week session. Center Stage is designed to lay the foundation for kids who are interested in entering the theatre. The first half of class will consist of basic training- stage left, stage right, building a story and listening to fellow actors. The second part of class is movement based - responding with their body, building a repertoire of facial expressions, and creating a vocal narrative in response to their listening efforts. We will combine all of these practices to create a 10 to 15 minute theatrical presentation for family and friends! This is a wonderful way to build confidence for young budding actors.

In this interactive drawing lesson, we will learn about creative process and technique, and, using multiple camera angles, follow the instructor in a unique step-by-step guide to drawing animals, sea creatures and much more. Our focus will begin on sketching an outline, choosing our color palette, adding vivid colors, and adding realistic details, shading, textures, and other final touches to our drawing. Kids will get to share their work with the class and continue working on them at home.

Supplies to bring to class: Large white paper, pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, and erasers. A list of more optional suggested supplies will be provided after registration should you wish to build your child's art supply collection.

Focused Kids Martial Arts uses an internationally recognized life skill program to teach 12 basic life skills: focus, teamwork, control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, coordination, manners, respect, confidence and stranger.

The lesson for each skill incorporates drills, a one-minute chat about the skill where it is defined and explained, and fun virtual games.

Every child will receive a new badge at the end of 2 weeks. The badge is mailed home to be awarded when you feel your child has demonstrated the life skill. Belt stripes are earned by participating in class. Our teaching philosophy is to work from the positive.

Center Stage is designed to lay the foundation for kids who are interested in entering the theatre. The first half of class will consist of basic training- stage left, stage right, building a story and listening to fellow actors. The second part of class is movement based - responding with their body, building a repertoire of facial expressions, and creating a vocal narrative in response to their listening efforts. We will combine all of these practices to create a 10 to 15 minute theatrical presentation for family and friends! This is a wonderful way to build confidence for young budding actors.

In this interactive drawing lesson, we will learn about creative process and technique, and, using multiple camera angles, follow the instructor in a unique step-by-step guide to drawing animals, sea creatures and much more. Our focus will begin on sketching an outline, choosing our color palette, adding vivid colors, and adding realistic details, shading, textures, and other final touches to our drawing. Kids will get to share their work with the class and continue working on them at home.

Supplies to bring to class: Large white paper, pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, and erasers. A list of more optional suggested supplies will be provided after registration should you wish to build your child's art supply collection.

Together we will explore music production through interactive sessions using GarageBand for ipad. Learn about samplers, sequences, virtual instruments, synthesizers, and drum machines. Using a variety of different musical genres and lesson plans that are crafted to the abilities and experience level of our class, we will answer questions like: How do you make a good beat? and How do you arrange a beat into a full song?

In this interactive and socially relevant class, students will learn about different key activist movements of the last 100 years (a new movement each week!)

We will start by defining activism ourselves, and continue on with conversations about civil rights and racial equality, environmental activism and sustainability, feminism, the gay rights movement, animal welfare and more.

These are complicated topics and might be new for many of the students. The instructor, Ellie Cody, will be focusing on making sure lessons are approachable and geared toward the age group. Ellie is so optimistic and excited about the amazing things these students will go on to do in their lives, and is teaching this class because she believes that learning about history and what others have stood for can help us all to build a more beautiful and sustainable future together.

Focused Kids Martial Arts uses an internationally recognized life skill program to teach 12 basic life skills: focus, teamwork, control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, coordination, manners, respect, confidence and stranger.

The lesson for each skill incorporates drills, a one-minute chat about the skill where it is defined and explained, and fun virtual games.

Every child will receive a new badge at the end of 2 weeks. The badge is mailed home to be awarded when you feel your child has demonstrated the life skill. Belt stripes are earned by participating in class. Our teaching philosophy is to work from the positive.

Center Stage is designed to lay the foundation for kids who are interested in entering the theatre. The first half of class will consist of basic training- stage left, stage right, building a story and listening to fellow actors. Together we will explore music production through interactive sessions using GarageBand for ipad. Learn about samplers, sequences, virtual instruments, synthesizers, and drum machines. We will explore DAW, FX, loops, and Inter-App audio. Using a variety of different musical genres and lesson plans that are crafted to the abilities and experience level of our class, we will answer questions like: How do you make a good beat? and How do you arrange a beat into a full song?

In this interactive and socially relevant class, students will learn about different key activist movements of the last 100 years (a new movement each week!)

We will start by defining activism ourselves, and continue on with conversations about civil rights and racial equality, environmental activism and sustainability, feminism, the gay rights movement, animal welfare and more.

These are complicated topics and might be new for many of the students. The instructor, Ellie Cody, will be focusing on making sure lessons are approachable and geared toward the age group. Ellie is so optimistic and excited about the amazing things these students will go on to do in their lives, and is teaching this class because she believes that learning about history and what others have stood for can help us all to build a more beautiful and sustainable future together.

Focused Kids Martial Arts uses an internationally recognized life skill program to teach 12 basic life skills: focus, teamwork, control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, coordination, manners, respect, confidence and stranger.

The lesson for each skill incorporates drills, a one-minute chat about the skill where it is defined and explained, and fun virtual games.

Every child will receive a new badge at the end of 2 weeks. The badge is mailed home to be awarded when you feel your child has demonstrated the life skill. Belt stripes are earned by participating in class. Our teaching philosophy is to work from the positive.

Discover first-hand how Mindful Awareness can transform your home by interrupting the "auto-pilot cycle", creating opportunity for prescence and deep connection. As part of this 4-week series, receive mindfulness exercises and suggested activities to practice both individually and with your children/teens. Week 1
Mindfulness of Self: Join Meditation Instructor Patricia Howard in this first session on a four week journey to develop mindfulness in both your personal and family life. Discover what Mindfulness is, ways to cultivate Mindfulness, and stategies for consistency.

Week 2
Relational Dynamics: The roles we play both personally and professionally can keep us on auto-pilot knocking down the never-ending to-do list, preventing us from being "present" with the people we love the most. Led by Meditation Instructor Patricia Howard, explore the habitual ways we react in interpersonal relationships and learn how to be more present with others for more gratifying relationships.

Family Formation: What is the family life you wish to have? While family values and practices are easier to achieve when children are young, it's never too late to make your dreams come alive. Led by a Certified Personal Trainer, this class focuses on strength and flexibility training. Learn proper exercise form as well as why each exercise is important to your overall conditioning. Led by JCC Tennis Director and Boston College Assistant Women's Coach, Doug Maynard, each week-long clinic will provide instruction and play within a progressive format using red, orange, green, and yellow balls designed for different ages and abilities.

Students will receive technical instruction along with coach-fed drilling and play with one another. Clinics will have a 4:1 ratio and will practice the appropriate safety guidelines for tennis, as well as other off-court instituted and required safety protocols.
