This class is ideal for new players and those seeking a refresher, and desire to go at a slow, relaxed pace. You'll learn essential fundamentals, strategies, and tactics that bring the game to life. You’ll discover the many surprising benefits of chess that go beyond the board. As an added bonus, we’ll periodically discuss fascinating insights into chess history, fun pop culture references, and current events that tie into the world of chess. Instructor and course creator, Sharon Burtman, is the 1995 United States Women's Chess Champion and has over 30 years of chess teaching experience.
