There's nothing better than a great book to transport you to new worlds—whether real, imagined, or simply a much-needed escape from reality. This monthly book group, led by staff at Hummingbird Books, will feature a variety of genres guaranteed to spark lively conversation and connection. If you don’t have a chance to finish the book, that’s okay, come anyway! Books can be purchased at Hummingbird Books in Chestnut Hill (or over the phone a 617-487-5101), an independent, local female-owned and operated store with an extensive collection of adult and children’s books.

July book: Goyhood by Reuven Fenton, with the author present (either in person or via Zoom)
Goyhood is the perfect summer read if you're looking for a balance of funny characters, touching materials, and a road trip. When Mayer Belkin finds out well into middle age that he's NOT actually Jewish, he must come to grips with the reality of his history and fate. August book: Birnam Wood by Elizabeth Catton
Birnam Wood follows Mira Bunting, leader of a guerrilla gardening collective that plants on unused land.
