Our JCC comprises families of every type representing the spectacular diversity of today’s Jewish community. Through our network of early learning centers, day camps, and PJ Library and regional family programs, JCC Greater Boston now engages more Jews than almost every other Jewish institution in Boston combined — almost 65% of all those under eight years old in Greater Boston.

We remain focused on providing services and resources for the entire family, fostering a welcoming community wherever families choose to live in Greater Boston. We continue to imagine and redefine the role of a 21st century JCC as a primary support system for a family’s construction of their own unique Jewish identity.

Especially now, during these still uncertain times, while we address today’s challenges, we are also keenly looking ahead to securing a meaningful and vibrant Jewish community throughout Greater Boston for the future.

JCC Greater Boston is launching the Securing Our Future Campaign to honor the legacy of our long time CEO, Mark Sokoll as he concludes his extended leadership tenure. Donors will have the opportunity to invest in the future of the JCC, which continues to play a critical role in the lives of so many. Securing Our Future is an investment in the vitality of our Jewish community.

Securing Our Future will invest in our most precious resources: our staff, the security of our facilities and programs, and our ability to gather, learn and grow. The special funds outlined below are essential in allowing JCCGB to thrive and strengthen in the months and years ahead.


Fund for the Future: Investing and Supporting Our Staff ($1M- $2.5M)

The Fund for the Future will invest in our staff’s growth and development by supporting several key areas, including recruitment, retention, training, professional development and fostering a connection to Israel.

The Fund for the Future will provide continuous staff learning and development for the JCC to fulfill its mission in a challenging and competitive market. Making advancements in the way we attract, train, and retain staff at JCC Greater Boston will position us as an energizing, inspiring, and supportive place to work. It will ensure we are attracting the best staff member for every position, including part-time and seasonal staff, which are notoriously difficult to retain.

Fund for the Future will create a happier, more motivated, engaged workforce and establish JCC Greater Boston as a trailblazing employer of choice. We will attract and retain a talented and diverse community of professionals while building on continuous learning and improvement culture. The Fund for the Future will help JCC Greater Boston deliver on its commitment to outstanding services and programming to all that enter our doors.

The Fund for the Future will go further to fully realize Mark's wish that JCC Greater Boston nurture a connection to Israel through travel. Travel to Israel has been shown to cement a deeper appreciation of Israel beyond what traditional education can provide. The program will be an opportunity for all staff to travel to Israel in groups of 10-15 people annually, resulting in longterm bonds with each other while cultivating a love of the culture and people of Israel.


Lobby, Security, and Community Gathering Space Fund ($2M - $4M)

Through generous philanthropic gifts, JCCGB recently renovated our facilities and unified our programs into a gateway that fortifies Jewish identity by reconnecting with and re-engaging younger generations of Jews.

Looking forward, JCCGB will further renovate the Leventhal-Sidman JCC lobby, gathering spaces, and café. These new spaces will be designed to ensure that everyone who enters the JCC feels welcome, safe, and connected to their Jewish identity and community.

Through this important renovation, JCCGB will create an enhanced environment for all members and staff, increasing gathering spaces and enhancing opportunities for members to connect with each other and the community. The building changes will improve security and streamline access procedures. We plan to place a new emphasis on using food as a cornerstone for building community, enhancing the dining experience and wellness programming, and create new catering and teaching kitchen facilities for programming to nurture the mind, body and spirit.
