The ELC Operations Manager is responsible for all non-curricular day-to-day childcare operations for our lively, nurturing Newton childcare and educational facility. This on-site position is the key point person for a warm community, connecting parents, Directors, teachers, other JCC departments, vendors and other community members. He/she/they serve in a variety of capacities:
As a Leader: Working to ensure smooth operations, to drive continuous improvement (including through data collection/analysis/ recommendations), managing staff, modeling leadership and representing the Early Learning Center externally, when requested. Oversees aspects of the budget. A critical partner in achieving both enrollment and financial goals.
Managing Operations: Ensuring quality function of intradepartmental, interdepartmental and vendor related processes. Manages front office, including providing/ensuring coverage during school hours and supporting drop-off and pick-up activities. Creates documentation and troubleshoots. Markets programs.
As a Collaborator: Provides critical support to Program Directors, as needed. Acts as an Ambassador – establishing and maintaining critical relationships. Facilitates rapid and effective communications, works across the organization and externally. Supports organizational mission and priorities. May serve as a liaison.
Serving Others: Sets and maintains the highest level of customer service. Provide support, for all aspects of outreach, enrollment, intake and onboarding of new families. Creates positive working relationships and working environment for ELC staff.
Facilitating Hiring and On-boarding Staff: Responsible for advertising staff open positions, candidate screening, interview scheduling and logistical on-boarding.
Bachelor’s Degree. Demonstrated experience in customer service and working with the public. At least 2 years working as a coordinator or manager or in a supervisory role. JCC or similar non-profit experience a plus. Will need to take infant/child CPR each year.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; office administration, recruitment and admissions, and/or customer service experience required. Comfort with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with social media. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to engage others, work well with people and problem solve. Interest in and ability to learn about school environments a must. Experience with Israeli families a strong plus. Interest in taking a class in child growth and development (at JCC expense) a plus.
