For a camp experience for 5-12 year olds, join the counselors, specialists and activities you know and love from Camp Grossman and Kaleidoscope in an interactive, virtual space. Create your JCAMP+ Summer with a mix of Camp Activities and Enrichment Classes. 

Summer Session 1 runs from the week of June 22 to the week of July 20. Even though classes have already begun, you are welcome to join us at a prorated cost for the remaining sessions. Email to sign up today!

JCAMP+ A Virtual Summer Experience

For Kids 5-12 Years

Create your JCAMP+ Summer with a mix of Camp Activities and Enrichment Classes. Sign up for one, two, or three classes and camp activities in a row each day for the full 60-90 minute JCAMP+ experience.

JCAMP+ Features:

Tennis Clinics

Join us on the outdoor courts for clinics for children 7-14 yrs with JCC Tennis Director, Doug Maynard. Each week-long clinic provides instruction and play within a progressive format using balls designed for different ages and abilities. Begins the week of July 6.

Karishim Swim Club is offering practices at our indoor pool for the Pre-Swim Club (no prior competitive swim experience needed) as well as our Competitive Swim Club.

Meet Some of Our Expert Instructors

Sharon Ellen Burtman
Instructor, Chess

Sharon is the 1995 United States Women’s Chess Champion.  Sharon attended Rhode Island College on a full chess and academic scholarship.  She also competed in two Women's World Chess Championships.  Sharon has over 30 years teaching experience, and was the keynote speaker at the Massachusetts Chess Association Education Expo in 2014 and 2015. She also performs an annual (multi-station) exhibition at the Boston Museum of Science. Sharon is looking forward to continuing her classes this season!

Nina Cabral
Instructor, Dance

Nina started dancing ballet at the age of thirteen. The summer of her sophomore year Nina moved on to intensives with the International Ballet Academy in Rowley NC, and later to Bolshoi and ABT in NYC. In her senior year of high school, Nina trained at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy Of Classical Ballet in the heart of NYC. After NYC Nina moved home to NH, and danced the lead in Edra Toth’s production of Dracula, with dance partnering with former soloist at Lumiere Ballet, John Ling. Nina graduated with an associates in Dance from Northern Essex Community College before transferring to The Boston Conservatory At Berklee to continue her training. Nina is incredibly excited to be teaching dance at the JCC and is looking forward to continuing her journey!

Emily Hall
Instructor, Music with Emily

Emily loves all things musical, especially her two-year-old son, Sawyer, six-year-old son, Thomas, and the children she teaches and entertains through her interactive concerts, DVD’s, CD’s, internet videos and classes at her family-owned business. Emily began her career at age 4 performing in her family band, The Hall Family or The Hallabaloos. Later, she performed leading roles at regional theaters across the country, culminating in appearances at City Center, NYC and on Broadway. Having studied voice at Boston Conservatory of Music here in Boston, she has come full circle and is thrilled to be back in MA - teaching her own mother's early childhood music program that has been around for 45 years! She can't wait to add her own musical twists to her mom's music program with you and your children.

Shirah Hill-Cohen
JCC Family Programming Coordinator & Instructor, Hebrew

Shirah is a graduate of Skidmore College where she studied Health and Exercise Science. She is a fluent Hebrew speaker and has taught English as a teaching fellow in Israel. She also served as a counselor and Sports Director at a Jewish summer camp in Pennsylvania for many summers.

Doug Maynard
JCC Tennis Director

Doug Maynard is in his ninth year as Tennis Director at JCC Greater Boston. He is a United States Professional Tennis Association Elite Professional with over thirty years of teaching and coaching experience at the professional, collegiate, interscholastic and club/resort level in North Carolina, Florida and Massachusetts. Previous Tennis Director positions have included The Tennis Club of Palm Beach, Omni Grove Park Inn Resort in Asheville, NC, and the Levine Jewish Community Center in Charlotte, NC. Currently, he is the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Boston College.

Maynard has trained and coached national junior champions, touring pros in the world’s top 25, and is a former NCAA Big South Conference Coach of the Year. Many junior students have gone on to play at numerous NCAA Division I, II, and III universities including Auburn, Arizona, Clemson, UNC, Virginia, Ohio State, and Wake Forest.

As a player, he is a former North Carolina and Southern Junior Champion and ranked in the top 15 in USTA National Rankings. Doug played collegiately at Ole Miss and the University of North Carolina Asheville, where he was ranked in the nation’s top 15.

Julie Middleton
Instructor, Artful Journeys

As an undergraduate Julie studied both Art History and English Literature at Ithaca College.  After receiving her degree, Julie furthered her education at Tufts University, earning a Certificate of Museum Studies with a concentration in Museum Education.  Julie went on to work in the Education Departments of both the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston where she created and implemented programs and public tours that helped visitors of all ages look at, think about, and discuss art. Julie is the mother of two children and is always working to find fun, new, and creative ways to introduce art and art history into their lives and believes it is never to early to start learning to look at and discuss art. She uses her enthusiasm and experiences to run Artful Playdates, an art appreciation program for kids ages 4 and up.

David Zisson
Instructor, GarageBand Music Production & Step-by-Step Drawing

With a passion for music, art, technology, and working with kids, David prides himself on his creative versatility as a teacher. He is currently pursuing his masters degree in elementary education from Curry College in Milton, MA. Originally from the greater Boston area, David graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he majored in Geography and International Studies. He has lived in Spain, Argentina, Italy, and most recently in Tel Aviv, Israel where he spent almost 4 years working in marketing communications for technology startups. In his free time, David describes himself as an avid cyclist, Boston sports enthusiast, vinyl record collector, artist, music producer, basketball junkie, and international wanderer.
