Discover the limitless possibilities of pastels! A wide variety of techniques will be demonstrated: linear strokes, scumbling, feathering and blending. Composition, perspective, values (lights & darks) and color relationships will also be addressed. Students will work with their photographs of landscapes, seascapes, still life, flowers, animals etc. Basic drawing skills are recommended. Please bring soft, medium and hard vine charcoal sticks, a kneadable eraser and a pad of white charcoal paper (9"x12" minimum size) to the first class. A complete list of materials will be discussed at the first meeting. Taught by Cy Whittier. Session runs: 1/8-3/19. No class 2/19. Questions: adultprog@jccgb.org. All are welcome.
