Wednesdays at the JCC for Senior Adults - Yearly Individual

LSJCC, Start Date: 09/18/2013, End Date: 09/10/2014, Time: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM

A full day program is available to members on Wednesdays. Membership includes discounts to all senior adult programs and Travel club events. Each week offers a variety of activities including lectures, fitness, discussion groups, entertainment and more. Typical courses include current events, Jewish history, play reading, nutrition, Yiddish, Art, choral group and more.   To reserve a Kosher lunch on Wednesdays, please call 617-558-6596 by 12pm the Monday before the Wednesday program. There is a $3 suggested donation for lunch and full day program.   If you are a Brookline or Brighton resident, transportation is available on Wednesdays. For transportation reservations, please call 617-558-6484.   Full day programs planned from September 18, 2013 to June 11, 2014. Summer semester program begins on June 18, 2014 and is limited to the use of all indoor PE facilities.

Special Needs Classes

Newton area, South area, Brookline and Metrowest, Throughout the year

Individuals with special needs are encouraged to participate in any mainstream or Inclusion and Support service offered by the JCC. Placement in appropriate classes is determined by the JCC Inclusion and Support Service staff. If you are signing up for a class for the first time, register by calling 617-558-6507/6508. If you have participated in previous special needs classes, please register online at www.bostonjcc.org/register.

The JCC offers financial assistance to those who qualify. If you are in need of financial assistance or a payment plan, or have questions regarding payment for registration, contact inclusion@jccgb.org. For more information regarding membership, registration, fee adjustment or special accommodations (e.g., locating an interpreter, accessibility, etc.) contact inclusion@jccgb.org or 617-558-6507/6508.

Adapted Aquatics - Leventhal-Sidman JCC

Leventhal-Sidman JCC, Mondays, June 23 - August 11, 1-6pm/by appt. Tuesdays, June 24 - August 12, 1-6pm/by appt. Thursdays, June 26 - August 14, 1-6pm/by appt. Saturdays, July 12 - August 16, 8:30am-12pm/by appt.

Weekly swimming classes adapted for children and teens with developmental, neurological, physical and emotional challenges. Half-hour lessons grouped by skill levels. Taught by a certified Adapted Aquatics instructor. Lessons scheduled in coordination with the instructor.  Registration is not available online. Explorations: Adult Learning and Enrichment

Temple Beth Avodah, Six Thursdays (10am-12:30pm): July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14

Explore new interests. Develop greater understanding of current events. Join other active learners in the JCC's six-week Explorations: Adult Learning and Enrichment series. Held on Thursdays from 10am-12:30pm beginning July 10. At Temple Beth Avodah, 45 Puddingstone Lane, Newton Center.

Session 1 (10-11am): Choose one
- Becoming America 1776-1800. Discuss the events, personalities and Parliamentary decrees that led to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. With professor Gary Hylander
- Chair Yoga. A gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. Provides relief for people with hypertension, arthritis, chronic pain, etc. With certified massage therapist and trainer Michelle Newman.

Session 2 (11:30am-12:30pm): Choose one
- Jewish potpourri. Six classes dedicated to learning about Jewish contributions in the fields of music, art, and history. Topics include the Poetry of Israel, a look at Israel's Declaration of Independence, Hava Nagila (The Movie), Judaica on display at the MFA and more.
- Current events. With teacher/writer Lois Sockol.

Fitness, Fun and Swim - Special Needs ages 18+ - Summer

LSJCC, Start Date: 07/26/2014, End Date: 08/16/2014, Time: 3:00 PM-4:15 PM

(Ages: 18+ yrs) For young adults with different learning styles. Class combines 30 minutes of stretching, weights, cardio and Tai Chi along with 30 minutes of Aqua Zumba in the pool. Instructor: Justin Falxa
