Special Needs Classes

Newton area, South area, Brookline and Metrowest, Throughout the year

Individuals with special needs are encouraged to participate in any mainstream or Inclusion and Support service offered by the JCC. Placement in appropriate classes is determined by the JCC Inclusion and Support Service staff. If you are signing up for a class for the first time, register by calling 617-558-6507/6508. If you have participated in previous special needs classes, please register online at www.bostonjcc.org/register.

The JCC offers financial assistance to those who qualify. If you are in need of financial assistance or a payment plan, or have questions regarding payment for registration, contact inclusion@jccgb.org. For more information regarding membership, registration, fee adjustment or special accommodations (e.g., locating an interpreter, accessibility, etc.) contact inclusion@jccgb.org or 617-558-6507/6508.

Tennis - Smashers - 9-14 yrs - Summer

LSJCC, Start Date: 07/28/2014, End Date: 08/25/2014, Time: 4:00 PM-5:30 PM

(Ages: 9-14 yrs) This class is designed to teach and improve fundamental and advanced skills using the USTA’s progressive development format. Students will work on modern stroke production in a rotational station format based on age and ability level. Instruction, drilling, and point play will be incorporated into class sessions. Beginning Tennis - Adults - Summer

LSJCC, Start Date: 07/29/2014, End Date: 08/26/2014, Time: 9:30 AM-10:30 AM

Beginning Tennis Learn the basics, including proper grip and stroke mechanics, body rotations, and footwork. Participants will work to sustain rallies. Get a good workout and have fun. Doug Maynard

Tennis - Hot Shots - 6-8 yrs - Summer

LSJCC, Start Date: 07/29/2014, End Date: 08/26/2014, Time: 4:00 PM-5:00 PM

(Ages: 6-8 yrs) Children will learn basic tennis fundamentals and athletic skills in a fun and positive atmosphere. To make it easier, the court size, the racket sizes, the balls, the scoring system and the net height can be adjusted. Doug Maynard

Intermediate Tennis - Adults - Summer

LSJCC, Start Date: 07/30/2014, End Date: 08/27/2014, Time: 9:30 AM-10:30 AM

Drills will be targeted for stroke consistency, technique, directional control, depth and dependability. Players will work to sustain rallies, improve net play, develop better touch, and understand court coverage. Doubles play and strategy will also be covered. These sessions will involve some cardio and lots of fun. Doug Maynard

Ages: 3-5 years Dynamic international coaches work with children to improve their skills and develop self-confidence and teamwork in a fun, non-competitive environment. Engaging warm-ups, activities and games, along with positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio ensures that each child will improve his or her soccer skills. Each child receives a free t-shirt. Super Soccer staff

Super Soccer Stars - Age 2 yrs - Summer

LSJCC, Start Date: 08/03/2014, End Date: 08/24/2014, Time: 11:00 AM-11:45 AM
