Special Needs Classes

Newton area, South area, Brookline and Metrowest, Throughout the year

Individuals with special needs are encouraged to participate in any mainstream or Inclusion and Support service offered by the JCC. Placement in appropriate classes is determined by the JCC Inclusion and Support Service staff. If you are signing up for a class for the first time, register by calling 617-558-6507/6508. If you have participated in previous special needs classes, please register online at www.bostonjcc.org/register.

The JCC offers financial assistance to those who qualify. If you are in need of financial assistance or a payment plan, or have questions regarding payment for registration, contact inclusion@jccgb.org. For more information regarding membership, registration, fee adjustment or special accommodations (e.g., locating an interpreter, accessibility, etc.) contact inclusion@jccgb.org or 617-558-6507/6508.

L'Chaim (To Life) Fun, Fitness and Community - Inclusion and Support Services - Ages 31+ - Fall

LSJCC, Start Date: 09/09/2014, End Date: 12/16/2014, Time: 7:00 PM-9:00 PM

(Ages: 31+ yrs) Socialize, dine out, work out in the gym, see a show! A group for adults with mild special needs. Group members decide their own leisure-time activities with the assistance of an advisor. Particpants pay for outside activities. Instructor: Trudy Bauer

Master’s Swim - 2014-2015

LSJCC, Start Date: 09/14/2014, End Date: 06/18/2015, Time: 7:15 AM-7:15 AM

(Ages: 19+ yrs) For adults who have an interest in improving or continuing to keep their competitive edge. Training includes a variety of drills to perfect stroke technique and challenging speed sets.

Master’s Swim - 2014-2015

Learn to Ride with Rock on Adventures - Ages: 3-5 yrs - Fall

LSJCC, Start Date: 09/14/2014, End Date: 10/19/2014, Time: 10:00 AM-11:00 AM

with Rock on Adventure (Ages: 3-5 yrs) Rock on Adventure will be offering a “Learn how to ride” session in the fall. This program is fun and exciting and will have your child riding a bike in no time. The bikes are balance bikes without pedals that will help to promote balance and control. These lessons are for your children to learn how to ride a bike on Strider bikes. A life skill that all children want to learn. Held outside on the West lawn weather permitting. TRX Suspension Training Open House

Leventhal-Sidman JCC, Sunday, September 14, 2014 (10:30am-12pm)

TRX suspension training leverages gravity and your body weight to allow you to perform hundreds of exercises. TRX is geared for anyone of any fitness level. Special mobile TRX station with 12 straps set up in the gym to let you test out the benefits of TRX. Giveaways and more. Open to the entire community. 

Super Soccer Stars - Ages 5-7 yrs - Fall

LSJCC, Start Date: 09/14/2014, End Date: 12/14/2014, Time: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM

(Ages: 5-7 yrs) Advanced level of soccer instruction. Experienced coaches introduce more sophisticated skills, tactical elements and team concepts in a challenging, fun, non-competitive and nurturing environment to ensure that each child has the opportunity to take his or her game to the next level. Each child receives a free t-shirt.
