Steve Almond - Against Football: One Fan’s Reluctant Manifesto
“…a brilliantly quotable, carefully constructed, emotionally vulnerable tract sure to anger as many as it convinces…” –Booklist (starred review)
Steve Almond details why, after 40 years as a fan, he can no longer watch the game he still loves. Using a synthesis of memoir, reportage, and cultural critique, Almond steps back from the seductive din of the gridiron to ask a series of provocative questions. He will be joined by Boston Globe NFL/Patriots writer Ben Volin, who will give an opposing argument.
After the talk, a craft beer tasting by Hopsters brewery and pub.
