Welcome Baby! Meet-ups, Metro North

Panera Bread, First Wednesday of each month (year round) 11am-12:30pm

Designed for parents with babies ages 0-1 year
Meet other parents with babies, and enjoy a cup of coffee in a relaxed setting the first Wednesday of each month. PJ Bagels and Books Drop-in Group, South

Temple Sinai, Wednesdays, October 2, 2013-April 30, 2014 9:30-11am

Designed for children ages 0-4 years, with adult
Treat yourself and your child to a fun, weekly activity in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Grab a bagel, hear a story and meet other parents while your children socialize and have fun. Geared for moms and babies ages 0-3 months
Share the journey of motherhood with other new moms in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment. Led by Liz Katzman, a former Isis Parenting instructor, the class covers topics such as soothing your baby, infant sleep patterns, tunny time, new roles and relationships, and includes interactive activities such as infant massage, finger plays and songs. Spend quality time with your baby and build a community of support and friendship to sustain you along your way. Class will not be held of April 14. Little Explorers - Child Development class - Ages 6-9 months, with adult - Spring

LSJCC, Start Date: 03/26/2014, End Date: 06/04/2014, Time: 11:30 AM-12:30 PM

This fun class will focus on play time for baby while incorporating education and support for the parent/caregiver. Led by a former Isis Parenting Instructor, regular routines with song, baby sign language, parachute play and story time are combined with varied weekly activities that highlight development. Each baby’s unique pace is considered and caregivers gain insights as to how their baby learns. The babies’ self confidence and curiosity are fostered as caregivers learn about child development while connecting with others. Instructor: Kristen Carhart - Kristen comes to the JCC from Isis Parenting, with fifteen years’ experience working with young families. She has worked as a Preschool Teacher, Child Development Educator, and Pediatric Sleep Consultant. She holds degrees in Education and Psychology, and has EEC teaching certification. She is the parent of 2 young children.

New Arrivals - New Moms Support Group - Ages 0-3 months, with adult - Spring

LSJCC, Thursdays, March 27-May 1, 2014 (9:30-11am)

Come share the journey of motherhood with other new moms in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment. Led by a former Isis Parenting Instructor, the class covers topics such as soothing your baby, infant sleep patterns, tummy time, new roles and relationships, and includes interactive activities such as infant massage, finger plays and songs. Spend quality time with your baby and build a community of support and friendship to sustain you along your way! Instructor: Liz Katzman - Liz has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work and has worked in all types of settings with families and young children. Liz taught classes at Isis Parenting and led mom’s groups for Jewish Family and Children’s Services for the last six years. She also works as a NICU social worker at a local hospital. Liz has two elementary school age boys who teach her something new every day about being a mom!

Baby and Breastfeeding Weekly Drop-In

Leventhal-Sideman JCC, Mondays, beginning March 31, 2014 (10:30-11:30)

Designed for new moms
This weekly drop-in will provide friendly and stress free support for you and your new baby.  You will be able to freely ask questions about infant feeding, pumping, soothing, sleeping patterns and more in this informal setting.  A great place to meet other mothers in similar circumstances, to learn from each other and to feel supported.  Facilitated by a certified IBCLC specialist. 
 
Melanie Venuti, IBCLC, RLC, CHBE, certified lactation specialist, will also be available for individual consultions. 

Lactation Consult - Meet individually with a professional breastfeeding specialist trained to teach mothers how to feed their baby. During this consult you will receive hands-on assistance with your breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, low milk production, low weight gain, pumping, just to name a few. Includes a care plan and follow up via phone and email. 75 Minute in office consult. Partners welcome!

Consults available by appointment on Mondays, Noon-1:15.  Call to inquire regarding other time slots.

Bio: Melanie Venuti, IBCLC, RLC, CHBE
Melanie has been working in the maternal and child health field for many years beginning in pediatric nutrition where she developed a passion for breastfeeding support and parental education. Her focus is breastfeeding consultations, prenatal breastfeeding education, and family support. She is also a certified Happiest Baby on the Block educator, teaching the soothing techniques of Dr. Harvey Karp.

Rock-a-Baby Music Jam

Your child has a chance to be “in the band” with Rock-A-Baby. With a trio of musicians, three zany puppets, dancing, instruments and music ranging from classical to jazz to children’s songs to rock ‘n roll, Rock-A-Baby gives your child a stimulating and educational musical experience.

Getting to Know You - New Moms Support Group - Ages 3-6 months, with adult - Spring

LSJCC, Start Date: 04/08/2014, End Date: 05/20/2014, Time: 12:00 PM-1:30 PM

Continue to share the journey of motherhood with your growing, giggly, wiggly baby! Now that your baby is more alert and interactive, come experience new ways to engage and interact with them through songs, parachute play and other developmentally appropriate activities and toys. Led by a former Isis Parenting instructor, this class will also cover topics such as getting out and about with baby, feeding the family, safety and baby proofing, sleep, health and wellness. You will have the opportunity to learn more about your baby and how they are growing and developing while still receiving the support and friendship with other moms. Moms who have not participated in New Arrivals are welcome and encouraged to attend. Instructor: Rachel Garber - Rachel comes to the JCC from Isis Parenting where she taught Early Parenting Classes and collaborated with the Sleep Consult Team. She holds a master’s degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education and trained with The Gottman Relationship Research Institute in Seattle and has worked many years with children and families in a variety of school and community-based settings. Rachel is the proud mother of two energetic, creative young boys.
