Chantal Lawrence, Director
Chantal Lawrence joined the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston in 2010 as Director of the JCC Early Learning Center, Wayland. Chantal has worked in the fields of psychology and education for more than 20 years and was most recently the Director of the Early Childhood Program at the Addlestone Hebrew Academy in Charleston, South Carolina. Chantal is committed to providing a nurturing, stimulating environment for children and their families within the framework of Jewish values and traditions. Her work with children of all ages led her to her strong belief in the impact of high quality early learning experiences. Chantal holds a BA in Psychology from University of Witwatersrand, a higher education diploma in Guidance and Counseling and German from University of South Africa and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Potchefstroom University.
Julie Pennell, Ledgewood Developmental Specialist
Julie Pennell joined the JCC Early Learning Center, Wayland in 2009. She is a longtime early childhood educator who has worked in a variety of settings including early intervention, preschool and kindergarten. In her role at the JCC Early Learning Center, Julie provides support to children with physical, emotional or developmental challenges. Julie also provides advocacy for parents, helping to connect them with available community resources for both children and families. She holds a BA in Child Development from California State University and studied Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Texas.
