Teaching Philosophy

The Gilson JCC ELC curriculum is designed to value the child and honor his or her interests and capabilities.  Interpreted through the lens of Jewish wisdom and values, the curriculum encourages community-building, collaboration and mutual respect.

This philosophy guides every aspect of our daily routine, from programming to community involvement. Consistent with the JCC Early Learning philosophy, we believe that social-emotional development is as important as cognitive development. Our team will nurture your child’s intellectual exploration and competencies—and at the same time help him or her to understand his or her emotions, label them, and express them safely and positively.

The Gilson ELC community includes families of all backgrounds and beliefs. We celebrate the fullness of living in a multicultural world while celebrating our heritage through songs, holidays and festivals, blessings, story, dance and exposure to Hebrew language. We are proudly Jewish; however, all are welcome at our Center.

The Gilson JCC Early Learning Center is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
