FAQ

Considering icamp

My child is very creative but not very technical. Will s/he be comfortable at icamp?
Yes. With diverse Adventures such as fashion design, architecture, computer games, etc., icamp attracts a very diverse cross-section of personalities and interests. We emphasize storytelling and creativity as the central themes in all adventures—and technology serves as a tool to tell the story in a rich way. Guided by our Adventure Guides, campers learn technical tools as needed.

Is icamp “girl-friendly?”
icamp is a coed camp and attracts children of all ages, genders and abilities. The diverse Adventure options are designed to be appealing to boys and girls with a wide range of personalities and interests.

Camp Life

What is the difference between full-day and half-day camp?
The major difference is the amount of time campers have to complete their projects. For those who do register for half-day, we highly recommend upgrading to full day on the last day of the session so that the campers can participate in the special group project. Please also note that swim time is not offered in the morning-only summer session. (There is no swim time during other times of year.)

What should campers bring to camp?
Every camper should bring a kosher (vegetarian or dairy) lunch and snack (please, no nuts). Sunscreen, water bottle and hat are recommended for all summer campers. Full-day summer campers should also bring a bathing suit and towel.

Can my child bring his/her own LEGO® or video games to icamp?
Campers may play games that were created as part of of the icamp gamemaker activity, but may not bring or play off-the-shelf video games at camp. LEGO may be brought to icamp, but we cannot be responsible for the safety or security of any electronics, LEGO, or other valuables brought by campers from home.

My child is not interested in sports. What is the camp’s culture like?
Physical activity is an important part of our days. While we encourage exercise, icamp sports emphasize teamwork and having fun over competition. Some campers love to challenge themselves physically; others prefer quieter, gentler forms of recreation. All of these needs are accommodated. In addition, aside from swimming, campers may opt out of sports activities with parent approval.

Do campers take anything home?
Campers receive an icamp tee shirt, bracelet, and a USB drive containing all camper projects.

Can I visit my child in icamp?
We encourage parents and friends to visit icamp to view the projects completed by our campers. If you would like to see their work or speak to one of our staff members about the program, please contact the icamp staff in advance. In addition, Friday is a special presentation day when all projects are shown. Details will be provided upon registration.
